Re: You have such vision, Dan - such vision - truly a precious gift.

Thanks for your kind words..... :-)

I was right about Rambus being a disaster for Intel.

I was right about copper being a major benefit for AMD.

I was right about the high costs and low price/performance putting a floor beneath P4 pricing.

I was right about the elegant architecture of the Athlon letting AMD extract a performance lead over Intel.

Now I'm expecting SOI to give AMD an advantage during the next two years greater than the one copper gave it for a year.

I'm expecting Hammer's easily marketed 64-bit architecture to give AMD a greater advantage than the Athlon design did.

And I'm expecting AMD's elegant and efficient flash design to pay AMD's way into expanding production to the point that AMD can make a serious run at toppling Intel as number one in the semi industry by the end of 2005.

Don't forget that Dresden was designed to be doubled in size - the land is there, the water and power is there, and the people who built the existing plant are there. I don't know how quickly Dresden's capacity could be doubled through a simple expansion if Hammer does as well as hoped, but I think it might surprise you.
