My dentist (as you can see, this is a very new subject) says that the amalgam fillings are harmless, and the alarmist reports to the contrary are ridiculous. But my brother in law had all his amalgam taken out, at great expense and, I'm sure, unpleasantly, and replaced with... whatever they replace it with. This discusses kidney damage from amalgam fillings. I'm sure if I show it to my dentist he'll laugh at it. rense.com What is one to think? BTW, my dentist has really weird looking teeth.
