Oh what a WEB GEM ! Don't forget that Dresden was designed to be doubled in size - the land is there, the water and power is there, and the people who built the existing plant are there. Dan - the MONEY ISN'T THERE !! The MONEY !! AMD can't afford to build another fab ! Where have you been - under a rock? AMD had to go another $500,000,000 in DEBT - to pay UMC to get UMC to build and equip and staff a new fab in SE. Asia. AMD has as much debt as they have cash - and AMD has lost money for 4 straight quarters ( I am making the bold assumption that AMD's Q2 loss is already in the bag with their plummeting ASPs.) So Dan - here's a dose of reality - AMD will probably never ever build themselves another fab of their very own. Unless they can find another stupid country to finance AMD's deep black hole of disappearing profits. Dresden is an orphan fab. Pity the poor orphan. Monica
