Karen, are you doing anything about mercury fillings?
No.

I had a mouth full of mercury fillings by the time I was in high school. They haven't killed me yet. Since then, I've had so much work done on my soft teeth that my back teeth are all crowned with gold and I don't have all that many silver fillings left. I don't worry about the ones I have.

Each of my front teeth has two fillings or more, white composite, of course. I've had to have them replaced many times. Did it this past year. Cost me just under $4K. I'd guess I've changed them every seven to ten years. They stain and they come loose over time. I've never had an amalgam filling replaced. Amalgam fillings cost about half the cost of a composite filling. Something else to consider.

I wouldn't risk a mercury filling in my kid. I wouldn't bother to replace the ones in me.

I just did some quick research on fillings and saw that composite fillings don't hold up well if you drink alcohol. I never knew that. It's not a factor for me, but it might be for some.
