Another aspect of the white paper that needs to be stated is that it was written almost entirely around the parameters sanctioned by the incumbent providers, citing characterizations of their present offerings as models to aspire to. Okay, doing an overbuild, any overbuild, is costly and difficult to finance, especially these days. But the only notable reference that I came across concerning FTTH was that it "was" expensive. And they never even used the abbreviation FTTH. I tell ya. Sometimes ya get no respect. Hmph.

Sleep? You know, I have my dad to thank for this. When I was a kid he encouraged me to learn morse, and my best atmospherics** were between 1 am and 7 am, and I never broke out of it.

** Read "best atmospherics" as lack of QRM (interference from other Hams). In my Brooklyn neighborhood we had more Hams per square mile than most states have people per square mile. By that time of the morning, most sane folk had already closed their shacks and gone to sleep.
