Another clever thing they do is to throw in some perfectly reasonable stuff along with the far-out stuff, even emphasize it.

You're absolutely on target with that one. Take all the pains of schools busing, integrated schools, etc...who wants their child riding a bus for three hours...clear solution is to re-segregate the schools. Even better yet, segregate the country. The Hispanics can have the southwest, the Asians the North West...too complicated. Oh heck, let's just set up some ethnic/racial reservations in the desert and let the non-whites have it all to themselves. It was good enough for the American Indians.

I got an e-mail from a cousin, passing on a rather extensive piece related to anti-immigration. Old stuff, our customs, our language, our country, do it our way or leave. She seems to have forgotten our common grandmother who immigrated in the early 1900s and refused to learn English [or at least refused to speak it]. On the other hand, we weren't allowed to learn her language. I think we all lost out on that deal.
