Milo still thinks AMD has "World Class Yields". EP
-- Yeah but that was > 90% Line Yield. BTW It kills me to say this as a PE, but I really didn't use to pay too much attention to Line Yield. A tool breaks a wafer, a wafer gets dropped.... blah blah blah, I hear it all the time. Unless there was a Tool Commonality pointing my way, Line Yield was a "Back Burner" Monitor. For me Defect Density rules.........
But since Jerry made it a big deal, and it became such a big deal around here, I've been watching closer. I've reviewed some Historical Line Yield data recently, and if the best AMD can say is > 90%, then that could be trouble..... Or at least, Nothing to brag about, and certainly not "World Class". I recommend that they review their tool repair and/or preventative maintenance practices, check their tool availability vs, utilization to see if there is a "hard run" tool that needs additional maintenance, and complete a tool fingerprint to make sure the tool is still running within the install/Quall Parametrs.
Oh yeah....., Right....., They didn't ask for my help did they?........ Sorry, I got carried away.......
