re, "I can nolonger get access to the internet"

i'm assuming that when you say you switched and reinstalled those things that you now have them back where they were when everything was working.

recently i experienced a loss of internet connection just a few days after installing a new cable modem. i was really bummed because everything had been working so well, and suddenly it had all gone bad. then i made a big mistake. i began reconfiguring and changing things. the reason i say i made a big mistake is because i completely overlooked the possibility that my internet service provider may be having probs. and that is precisely what was happening. cable modem service to my area was down, and had i used my dial up connection and checked the company's service status site, i would have known that. i can assure you i won't make that mistake again. <g3>

if this is not your problem, and all signs point to the recent windows updates, see if they can be uninstalled via add/remove. my experience with windows updates is that some can be removed and others can't. you can check which update numbers are on your computer by clicking ie browser 'help', then 'about internet explorer'. the windows updates usually have the letter Q in front of them.

hope this helps

:)
