Savant, I am a capitalist, born and bred. Capitalism has allowed me to pursue my talents with sufficient reward to maintain a decent home, rear a family and establish enough resources to participate in the market. I do not, however, shut my eyes to the realities that surround me.
Capitalism is as good a system as has been devised to promote economic well-being. Its sole drawback, as far as I've been able to determine, is that it lacks a penalty for greed. If you attempt to define greed, you will find it borders on impossible. When you attempt to specify penalties for instances of greed, you create rules which are easily subverted.
It is not a simple problem. It is made more difficult because so few people recognize the pervasiveness of the problem, fewer believe a solution is possible, and those who profit the most from the lack of penalties control our lives. It is not a healthy state of affairs.
Meanwhile, buckle your seat belt. It's the law.
