It's broad, I agree. But I'd say anyone who can take a couple bucks back here and there, does. It may not be "illegal", but it certainly is cheating. You can get away with ALOT, legally, in your tax return. Not of it is "ethical".
As for condoning it, let's just say I don't condone any behavior that involves "taking advantage", nor should anyone else. But it happens, and while it doesn't make it right, it has to be considered in context.
The government's problems, in this respect, are of their own doing. Simplification would solve alot of issues, such as cheating. PA used to have (may still) a flat income tax that you filled out on the back of a postcard. It was remarkably successful and had limited ability for cheating. |
