My recollections of David Duke never stirred the opposition to that degree. Fairly passive in comparison.

David Duke never had a serious chance to win an office as major as the one Le Pen was running for and the electorate he would have been elected by was not a national one but limited to one state. In any case he did not get elected. Did he even get 20% of the vote? He never would in a national election in the US.

Have someone like David Duke run for the Presidency or even for vice president. For that matter just have him appointed to be Attorney General, or Secretary of State of the head of the FBI and see how much reaction you get.
