Les, great article exposes yet another of the many lies of the wonders of home "ownership". Same thing is going on here in Boston; my tax rates have doubled in the last couple of years.

Will be interesting to see what will happen if real estate values FALL. Taxes are sorta like the price of Starbucks coffee; they go up easily but are really sticky on the way down. I'm thinking that the taxman is going to take several years to get around to re-assessing the value of my real estate when property prices here crash.
