Right. In my original contribution (a response to E) on this subject, I offered 9 steps to establishing a self evaluative and self regulatory approach to beneficial outcomes. This would be toward the individual determinants of adjusting to "bad feelings." Of course the criteria could be broken down much further and explained in greater richness.

"It is not immediately evident from the pain whether one is laboring under false or exaggerated expectations, or has been at fault......

This would involve external judgements or involvement, which broadens the topic. I was simply trying to demonstrate that it is not unhealthy to recognize "bad feelings" and to act on your own behalf to make a positive adjustment.
