Have I run into any kooks?
Do 'spammers' count as kooks? If so, yes.

The issue of spamming stocks on to other threads
is one that I don't think we've dealt with here,
have we? It would certainly bring the discussion
back around to actual 'Kooks', which we've strayed
far away from. One of threads I follow suddenly had a
spam for some cheezy penny stock.

Several posters responded, "Hey, don't hype your penny
stocks here"

The reply from the spammer was, "Hey, I own some
shares of <the thread's> stock. I have every right
to be here." She further denigrated other posters.

I did respond at that point. Perhaps in a manner
unbecoming. But I did use actual fact and reason
to describe:

1. She had a right to be on the thread, but not
to spam other junk.
2. Her stock could have been better chosen (this
was to help thread readers see her stock was, at
best, throwing money away -- they have had exactly
-0- sales since 1989 -- a speculative biomed firm.)

Whilst eloquent and factual, my response did tip the
side of the 'scathing' scale. Perhaps I should have
used more tact, but I make no apologies -- I stuck to
facts and reason (although I was a bit more insulting
than I should have been). My only other crime was using
a joke I have previously used here. I hope I am not a kook.

I did 'riddle' her with some bullets, but at that point,
with the previous posts, I was a little ticked off -- the
irrational exuberance of youth. I hope I haven't
disappointed anybody too much. Maybe I should stick to stock
analysis.

So what do we do about spammers? How are they best handled?
