What business is going to make a capital investment in new plant when they are at a competitive disadvantage because the local currency is 20% overvalued? That's a pretty high bar to clear. Americans have enjoyed a currency that has been artificially propped up by foreign speculators. The downside is that many of our companies have been taking a beating. Now the pendulum will swing back the other way. Maybe overdoing it on the downside.
