Kopin Starts Volume Shipments of CyberDisplay 320M for New Infrared Digital Camera
Nature Vision, Inc.'s Game-Vu Camera Set to Debut this Month
TAUNTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 2002--Kopin Corporation (Nasdaq: KOPN - News) announced today that it has begun shipping its CyberDisplay 320M, the world's smallest, lightest and highest resolution active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD), to Nature Vision, Inc., based in Baxter, Minnesota. The CyberDisplay is being integrated into Nature Vision's Game-Vu, a digital still camera designed for wildlife observation. Nature Vision plans to introduce the camera this month.

The Game-Vu is equipped with a passive infrared sensor and operates day or night for up to 150 hours, in temperatures from zero to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. When the sensor detects an object, the Game-Vu snaps a picture. The Game-Vu's battery life, temperature range and sensor enable a user to attach the Game-Vu to an object such as a tree and leave it unattended.

The CyberDisplay will operate as a detachable viewfinder in the Game-Vu. In addition to aligning the camera in the field, the display will be used to review pictures and to set up features such as the clock.

"Kopin's unique CyberDisplay provided the necessary combination of image quality, power efficiency and durability," said Nature Vision President Jeff Zernov. "The display's low power consumption enabled us to extend the camera's battery life well beyond our initial expectations. The Kopin CyberDisplay is an ideal portable imaging solution, and we hope to integrate it into future Nature Vision products."

Dr. John C.C. Fan, Kopin's chairman and CEO, said, "The Game-Vu camera illustrates the versatility of our CyberDisplay. As a detachable unit, the display provides unparalleled viewing flexibility in the field. Excellent image quality, a tiny footprint, low power consumption and its ability to operate over a wide range of environmental conditions make the CyberDisplay the enabling technology for an array of emerging portable applications."

Kopin's CyberDisplay family of monochrome and color active matrix liquid crystal displays features a range of resolutions and sizes. The CyberDisplay 320 (0.24-inches diagonal) has the image quality roughly equivalent to a U.S. television; the CyberDisplay 640 (0.38 inches) has image quality close to a computer monitor; and the CyberDisplay 1280 (0.96 inches) has the approximate resolution of a high-definition television.

About Nature Vision

Nature Vision Inc. is a privately held Minnesota corporation specializing in the design and development of video-imaging systems for outdoor recreation uses. Nature Vision's debut product was the Aqua-Vu, the world's first self-contained underwater viewing system. Currently, Nature Vision sells viewing products in four markets: sports fishing, hunting, water well inspection, and wild bird watching. Nature Vision is the first and largest producer of underwater viewing systems. Its Aqua-Vu cameras are state-of-the-art in that they are carefully engineered and built to be leak-proof and resilient, absolute requirements for underwater use. The Game-Vu is a high tech trail camera system utilizing passive infrared technology, which provides a still-frame imaging system that operates in complete stealth. Game-Vu eliminates the time, hassle, and expense of 35-mm film by using an Intel(TM) Strataflash memory chip that digitally stores up to 64 images. Images are viewed using the Micro Video Display, which utilizes the Kopin CyberDisplay 320M. For more information, visit Nature Vision's Web site at www.naturevisioninc.com.
