To begin with, the article is very biased. No one will be able to know the facts as they are unless they have lived in Malaysia. I know as I was an expatriate officer there 25 years ago when Dr. Mahathir first came into power.
The evil stuff atrributed to Dr. Mahathir came from his deposed deputy Anwar Ibrahim who was thrown out because he was gay and he was guilty of sodomy. Since then Anwar Ibrahim and his supporters have been mounting a smear campaign against Dr. Mahathir, throwing all sorts of shit at him in the hope some of it will stick.
At one time Dr. Mahathir was critical of the U.S. So, it is not surprising a smear campaign was started against him. But ever since he came out to help the U.S. in a big way against terrorism, the U.S. is now well pleased with him.
By the way, did you know that Anwar Ibrahim has since reconciled himself with Dr. Mahathir, and the dirty campaign has stopped? Zolatimes is now behind times and is out to lunch! Next time, before you post any info of a sensational nature, be sure you know the facts. Otherwise you are making a fool of yourself.
I am not sure whether Dr. Mahathir favoured amputation of limbs. So far as I know, it has not been implemented in Malaysia. In any case, as a skilfull politician, Dr. Mahathir has to appear he might be in favour of the opposition's recommendation without really intending to see it become Islamic law in his country. Frankly, I believe it was smear tactic to blacken his reputation.
Did you know he is the Moslem leader who has given his countrymen Malays (all Moslems) a thorough shellacking for being freeloaders, being lazy and generally apathetic.
By the way, he was also the Asian Prime Minister who in 1997 challenged and succeeded in ending the disgraceful and callous destruction of S.E. Asian currencies by Soros and his boys.
