Make the package more appealing by throwing in all of the "extras" (voice-mail, text messaging,.. ) for six months at no additional charge.

Something like this. Nokia 5170i. $129.00

9 months free text messaging and voice mail, caller ID, 3-way calling.. A $145.00 value. (In reality, these products cost Cricket almost nothing to provide)

So if someone is going to remain a customer for 9 months or longer. It's a great deal. If they planned not to use the service that long. Then you probably didn't want them to buy your phone in the first place.

They should give away the stuff that cost them almost nothing, instead of Cash in the form of a subsidy.
