E. C, re:<<Most areas of BC/AB are documented. Some of the better tributary streams are not.>> A few questions if I may? I go up into upper BC and the Yukon every summer (to shoot video and 35mm - wildlife/landscapes/etc.) Last summer spent some time at Stewart/Hyder (BC/AK). Stopped at the land office there - they had an old map of the area and it was fully covered with claims (all the way up the Bear River), also up the Salmon Glacier side of AK. At Atlin, there are claim stakes all over the place but nothing going on (guess because the $ of gold was so low last summer). At King Solomon outside Dawson City, a little activity. My question - this summer (leaving Friday) I plan to take my ATV on trails along the Skeena, Stikine, Bell Irving, Eagle, Klappan, and Iskut rivers, as far as I can. I always keep a 'pan' in the back of the ATV but have never used it up there because I don't want some bearded grizzly dude coming up on me with a 12ga. shotgun ;-( Besides, I'd only use it when taking a break from filming, just playing around - I'd just as soon find some good looking agates. Do you think I'd have to worry about being put upon if there are no markers around these remote areas?? Any precautions you could think of??
