JPR:

We have had this conversation before. I give you the same answer I gave you previously. That is: China is not the China of Mao that invaded or went to war with India previously. It wants to be a world player and it wants things from the West and it has TOO MUCH going on elsewhere to risk it all for Kashmir--an invasion of which world opinion would never tolerate--China wold get booted out of the WTO and it would put a kabosh on China/Taiwan Raproachment and the up coming Olympics.

2. A viable UN force could serve as a trip wire which would guarantee a severe military response from UN Security Counsil members.

So China not a problem. More difficult is India's buregeoning sepratists groups. But too settle the big peace question India is going to have bite the bullet on the other sepratist issues. The potential nuclear conflict with Pakistan is just too damn important.
