hcm1943 For Win98, open Windows Explorer and select Tools/Folder Options... and click on the File Types tab. Then look at the registered file types: and click on "Microsoft Word Document". The File type details section should indicate Extension: DOC and Opens with: Winword. After selecting "Microsoft Word Document", click on "Edit". The Content Type (MIME) should be "application/msword" and the Default Extension for Content Type should be ".doc". In the Actions: section, select Open and click on the Edit button. The Application used to perform action should be ""C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\winword.exe" /n" (or the folder where you have winword installed). Be sure to include the quote marks surrounding the program location. Select the "Use DDE" option. In the DDE Message: type "[REM _DDE_Direct][FileNew("%1")]". Type "WinWord" for the Application and "System" for the Topic. Then click on "OK" until you are back to Windows Explorer. The DDE Message will be sent to Winword to execute the necessary command to open the document. Hope this helps. B.K.
