IMO, there are those on the Israeli side that will only settle for total victory over the Palestinians, just as there are those on the Palestinian side that will only settle for total victory over the Israeli's.

So if the Israelis will only settle for total victory, how come Barak offered 95% of the territories to the Palestinians?

There are extremists on both sides. But they don't run the show on the Israeli side. They do on the Palestinian side. That's the essential difference.
