Jim, the theory may make sense, but the US is not Japan in corporate culture further the US did not had a double bubble like Japan, and US banks can not hold bad loans on their book for ever like Japan.

So there are some differences ...... and more so Europe and Japan depend on the US market to get out of their recession / slow down. A low dollar will decimate their economies also.

The recent rise in the EUR is like a 1% rate hike for the European economy which is still stagnant and not growing. Exchange rate leverage in Europe is 7.5 to 1 according to Commerzbank
