Will there ever be an end to this conflict? Discounting the past centuries of conflict, in recent times the Palestinians had opportunities in 1948 and 2001 to create a Palestinian state - and walked away - the Arab states collectively tried to defeat Israel in 1967 and 1973 - and lost - now they are continually crying about the "land they lost" on the West Bank and Golan Heights. Well, to my mind, that's just tough. Israel did give the Sinai back to Egypt just so they would stop crying and belly aching. Jordan kicked a lot of the Palestinians out of that country, though the major ethnic group in that country remains Palestinian.

It's time for the Arab countries to stop teaching their children that one of their missions in life is to kill the "infidels", to stop lying about the paradise waiting for suicide bombers (hint - murderers of innocents don't go there), that tolerance is not a bad thing, and that if you want a prosperous society that such a thing comes through hard work, a vision for a better life, and a desire to provide a safe and nurturing society.

I would like to see President Bush announce a national goal - as Kennedy did with the moon landing - that the US will be (almost) self-sufficient in energy needs in 20 years. Fuel cells and other innovative sources of energy should become a key priority, with the development of non-Arab oil sources fostered in the near term.

The sad thing about Arafat and the other Palestinian and Arab flunkies is that they are robbing their younger generations of a decent and happy life.

While the struggle remains - good has always prevailed against evil at the end of the day.

David :)
