I would like to see President Bush announce a national goal - as Kennedy did with the moon landing

Here are some of my thoughts along those lines.

I don’t think people should get cynical about the timing of the Presidents Homeland security reorganization. I think one of the reasons for the surprise announcement is because he wanted Congress to be able to brainstorm, while being unencumbered by the castle walls that some immediately build when they see an opportunity to empire build. My mental picture of Congress at work, is that of the Jedi that does not need to see something coming to know its there.

However, I have laid out below what I believe is the core reason for the announcement.

If you go back in time over the past year, starting with today’s granting of “Market Economy” status to Russia, and view virtually all of the Presidents actions, everyone should be able to connect the dots IMO. When all of the dots are connected, does everyone see this theme;

“World peace is good for business and business is good for world peace.”

When the sum of the Presidents actions is viewed through the lens of this statement, can everyone see what I think is the master plan?

If you make the assumption that the Presidents theme is world peace, doesn’t it follow that if he can see world peace breaking out around the world, he would want to be able to focus his complete attention on foreign policy?

There will be some that resist peace, and the resulting economic prosperity, just as there are those who resist the inevitability of global trade among sovereign nations in a free and peaceful world. I think this is at the root of the Presidents warning tonight about possible future attacks.
