Jan DuPreez, president of Infineon Technologies' North American operations, has resigned to join Micron Technology Inc. as vice president of the networking communications group, effective next Monday.

DuPreez had headed the Infineon subsidiary since July, 2000 and before that was vice-president of memory operations for the unit.

No successor has yet been named. Miriam Martinez, Infineon North America chief financial officer, will serve temporarily as acting head of the group.

At Micron DuPreez becomes the first head of the chipmaker's networking communications group, which was formed more than a year ago. Micron Chairman and President Steve Appleton had been handling the top unit responsibilities until an executive could be selected, a spokeswoman said.
