Front Porch Digital's Video Archive System Technology (VAST) Selected By Counterpoint Communications to Preserve Twenty Years of ORTV Content
MOUNT LAUREL, N.J., June 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Front Porch Digital Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: FPDI - News) today announced that Counterpoint Communications has chosen VAST(TM) to archive over twenty years of video broadcast content belonging to the Office of Radio & Television (ORTV), an agency of the Archdiocese of Hartford in Connecticut.

The VAST architecture features Front Porch Digital's single capture, multi-repurpose process that simplifies digital content archiving. The VAST integrated workflow incorporates BitStorm(TM) and BitScream®, the Company's core technologies for ingest and transcoding, with best-of-breed indexing, storage and asset management.

"For the past three years, we've been searching for a full-featured video archive solution that would allow us to not only preserve our video assets but also retrieve and repurpose them," said Father John Gatzak, Director of Communications for the Archdiocese. "After an extensive search, the only system that met all of our requirements was Front Porch Digital's VAST."

"We have been working closely with ORTV to create a methodology for digitally preserving their historical footage that would also enable them to search, browse and repurpose selected pieces," said Dave Brewer of Counterpoint Communications. "VAST was selected because it will enable us to not only preserve the footage but also visually search, select and reformat clips on-demand for virtually any digital environment. No other system we saw could do this as well."

"We are delighted that Counterpoint selected VAST to preserve the historical footage of the Archdiocese," said Ken Beaudry, SVP of Worldwide Sales for Front Porch Digital. "In addition, our seamless integration with Counterpoint's existing Leitch video server and non-linear editing system will enable VAST to act as a repository for ORTV's current production content without the need to store content on videotape."

According to Don Maggi, CEO of Front Porch Digital, "Our unique solutions are helping to facilitate a convergence in the way data and video are managed. The Company's technologies represent a significant workflow improvement and continue to generate a tremendous amount of interest from broadcasters worldwide."
