At the rate PCs break, even a replacement market can be robust. I do agree that the driver for growth is bandwidth, and novel uses for the bandwidth that already exists. I think broadband growth _has_ been slower than many expected, but I don't share your negative prognosis for the future.

I think a lot more people would sign up for broadband if it weren't triple +/- the price of dialup.
