Nobody wants to be insecure, but the balance with individual freedoms is a delicate one. The German Gestapo and the Hoover FBI are examples of what can go wrong. I also haven't heard anybody address the problem of spies and infiltrators -- the more centralized and organized our homeland security efforts are, the more damage such people can do. It's a difficult problem.

That's why I suggested the Devil is in the details.
