Man, I could swear this exact same thing came out about six months ago, around the same time they made the 10% investment in Poet. So this is the database that NDS is based on? Hmmm, never heard of it outside Novell.

On another note, I got a message from Bill Wall in the Northwest Region. Seems he's been promoted in all the recent shakeup & given responsibility for Channel Marketing, Development & Programs nationwide.

Hi Rich;
Thought you might be interested to know that I have been given new
responsibilities at Novell. Previously I was District Manager at Novell Pacific Northwest (Seattle), my new position is Manager of Channel Marketing, Development and Programs.

This is an opportunity of a lifetime.

Now we can roll-out nation wide what we were doing successfully at Novell Seattle, a tough market, but we consistently have major wins.

Our first action on Friday was to communicate to our Platinum resellers, OEMs, and Distributors that we will bring their top techs into Utah for two days of extensive hands-on training on BorderManager. In the span of two weeks this boot camp training will jump start 700 of the channel's best and brightest CNEs on BorderManager.

Consider this our first step in engaging and enhancing our channel. Some of our marketing activities will be minor, some major, but from my position they are all focused on engaging and enhancing our channel partners.

Keep your suggestions and comments coming.

Thanks,

Bill

Sounds like a pretty good thing overall to me. I don't understand this on-again, off-again love affair with the channel, though. Weren't they supposed to be going towards a more direct channel? Maybe that was a Marengi thing that quietly got killed. I don't remember for sure.
