Why not 10? or 1???. Ok I like AMD as a chip manufacturer.

(1) Manufactures a product that the end user finds as good as anything else on the market.

(2) Manufactures said product economically. Minimum number of workers in modern manufacturing plants.

(3) Superior design team. AMD makes advanced designs on minimum silicon chip area thus making a cost advantage maximizing number of dice per wafer.

(4) Just like gold miners. AMD has been forced to be super efficient and competitive. In AMD's case the existence of bad boy INHELL.

(5) Apart from INHELL, AMD has no other competitors within sight, and INHELL is lagging badly.

Right now I own Zero, ZILCH shares of AMD. I own a few calls that is all, and I have no high hopes for them either.

Other companies?? In order of preference ADI, LLTC, TXN, NSM,

It is only "local knowledge" that makes that selection. There may be other, better candidates.

To those folk who might suggest only the "hi tech" modern factories will survive the upcoming tech crash I say this. I will not only laugh with you... I will laugh straight in your face. It's like you telling a black man (who are by nature... natural statisticians) that black folks are dumber then white folk. The response is like.... Hey white boy! where you get doz figures??... from a white man??? LOL

Did I mention Fairchild? FCS??

There is now at least as many discrete diodes and transistors sold as there ever was. I used to make some power transistors that sold for $1000 each. Not every fab is happy running a Gold Diffusion stack next to Initial Ox. From economic problems I was forced to do that and had to train and trust the work force to do the job properly. Yep I've been there and done it. GFY. -g-

I expect there will be several 300mm foundries and memory makers that will go bankrupt...plus a who bunch of low tech firms that will get wiped out in the near future.

Why did I pick NSM?? Check with your local homeland security expert.
