Anwar (who was at one time groomed to succeed Dr. Mahathir) was guilty of sodomy and was thrown out! According to Dr. Mahathir, sodomy is a no-no in Islam. (BTW, about 70% of the people in Malaysia are Moslems.) In revenge, a smear campaign was mounted by Anwar's supporters against Dr. Mahathir. And a superficial and trigger-happy dsm jumped to conclusions a la Dr. Watson (Sherlock Holmes' sidekick). Dr. Mahathir has been very critical of the U.S. and the IMF. From this, it is not surprising that Al Gore went to Malaysia and said something, albeit obliquely, in favor of Anwar and his supporters. Al Gore was told he had no right to interfere with Malaysia's internal politics and was summarily told to pack his ass home! Did you know that the U.S. has the support of Malaysia in the fight against terrorism, and that thanks to Dr. Mahathir, the U.S. received vital info on some of the terrorists responsible for 9/11 and got a good handle on Al-Qaeda in S.E. Asia. Then all of a sudden, the smear campaign against Dr. Mahathir stopped. And Anwar has now reconciled himself with Dr. Mahathir. The reconciliation says a lot! You were in Malaysia for a very short time and the little you know was based on hearsay and maybe sensational U.S. propaganda. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing! Don't make a wanton display of your ignorance. Did you write a report on Malaysia for some group or newsdrag. If you did, I pity the folks who received your report. Di-larang bercakap bohong atau benda2 yang tidak betul!
