To All, My Belmont picks, for what they're worth (The Derby and Preakness picks weren't worth a Greenspam dollar, so reader beware). I would love to see War Emblem win. But if he does, he won't pay diddly-squat. So, I'm going to tell you what I think will be the winning ticket and then how I'm going to bet:
1. The winning ticket: War Emblem and Perfect Drift over those two plus Essence of Dubai and Magic Weisner in an exacta wheel that might pay you your money back.
2. How I will bet, depending on the odds: Perfect Drift, Essence of Dubai and Medaglia d'Oro in an exacta box. Then a trifecta wheel, Perfect Drift and Essence of Dubai over themselves and Proud Citizen over those 3 and War Emblem.
I have eliminated Sunday Break, the current pick of many. He didn't impress me the times I've seen him. Like a Hero could be in it and has a great jockey, but I'm leaving him out because I can't bet on everyone. A great jockey doesn't count for that much as there is nary an apprentice rider on any of these horses. Lots of Eclipse Awards in the race, and when that happens, the best horse usually wins, not some trick by a wily jockey.
