I didn't say it was "my job" or that I would "tell them how to run their lives." You wrote "I wouldn't automatically condemn them for it as being terrible parents," and I said I would think they were wretched, stupid, sick parents.

And yes, I would also think any parents allowing their developing children to watch sexual sadism on the net, or in video (why not the second, if the first?) were making "totally wrong decisions."

Now that I think if it, if I were a counselor and had the right to "tell them how to run their lives" because they'd asked me for advice, I'd certainly comply.

Hey, and if I were a social worker visiting the home of prospective adoptive parents of, say, a 9 year old boy and a 12 year old girl, or vice versa, and noted the children being allowed to look at sadistic porn on their computer (or watch hard core videos), I would have something to say about whether those adults should "run the lives" of those children. They'd be out of there fast, unless an explanation I can't myself imagine were forthcoming. The best one I can think of would be that they were just so stupid they didn't know any better. It's that or they're really sick.
