Perhaps the selection available to you is limited Have you seen No Man's Land? Green? The Big Split? L.I.E.? Orfeu? The Taste of Others? The Closet? Sur Le Sable? The Widow of St Pierre? These were, imo, some of the best recent films- I know I've forgotten some. But ce la vie. All much better than anything I've ever seen on TV. Because of the necessity to serve advertisers, and because of regulation, TV is much more limited than film. That's just the way it is.
