Lindy, Bill Clinton was in Kiwiland the other day, attending the launch of a new BMW car. He's drumming up business on a global scale. He'll be back! herald.co.nz

I don't think the great success of the 1990s was just an accident or an aftermath of Ronald Raygun's acting ability or George Bush's war against Iraq. Women like Bill Clinton. You should have seen the photo of our Prime Minister Helen Clark enthralled by Bill - it was a classic. Made the front page! I didn't know she could smile let alone act like a fundamentalist Christian cultist.

Having half the population happy is a good thing. Okay, not ALL women like him, but a lot do. While Arafat was grinning beside Bill, he wasn't feeling like blowing up anyone. While the markets were booming, the men were happy too.

The buck stops there and judging from the success of Ashcroft's lowered priority on terrorism and GeorgeW's first year results, thankfully cushioned by some great action by our hero Uncle Al, who was reappointed a couple of times during Bill's reign, things haven't gone all hunky dory.

Free trade and open markets have been dumped. Republicans are supposed to be in favour of free trade I thought.

The law against three terms for president is an anachronism. The roaring 90s was a lot more fun than the parsimonious, warring and worried 21st century.

Bring back Bill! Then again, to hell with him. He's the sulky bully who decided to beat up on my idol $ill Gates because $ill talked down to him and wouldn't hand over a bunch of political donations after a round of golf.
