Chocolat was entertaining but hardly one of the really good films of the year (imo). Memento had a good gimmick, but again, not a great movie. Oh Brother Where Art Though was fantastic- and far better than anything the Coens had done before, imo. I've seen all their movies, and this one was so great, on so many levels, I bought both the movie and the soundtrack.
