Your reply was definitely a classic. So short and understated. I really did laugh so hard that I started coughing.

There are many jobs I would pay money NOT to do and that is one of them - I doubt I could stand the emotional toll. I am sure that there are incompetents and saints, just as in any profession, but mostly there are just a lot of very overworked and underpaid well-meaning people doing their jobs.
