At the moment, the Bush plans seems too infected with political aims for my tastes. I'm not arguing it should not have political aims; to think otherwise, to wish away the political is dumb and perhaps not even a good idea. But it just seems much too prominent for me at the moment.
surprise! i disagree.
i am not a believer in the clausewitz theory that war is politics by other means.
i believe war is the result of a complete and total failure of politics. i also believe that if people ever begin to really comprehend that, corrective action can be initiated, and we will be on the way to eliminating war.
until the politicians are held accountable for their failures and lies and not allowed to escape unscathed for any reason whatsoever, continued political failure and the resulting wars will continue to occur.
to blame any aspect of this war on Bush and his short regime is ridiculous and denies past failures. to blame an inadequate current response on Bush denies the culpability of those politicians before him who not only failed politically but were also able to successfully decimate our ability to defend ourselves.
in 40 years they can do a robert mcnamara and apologize. in the meantime, guys like me work to pick up the damaged, discarded human pieces scattered about the world due to his failures.
we are at a crossroads now. we should not be, and Bush did not get us here. but i believe he has it in him to get us out of this mess. i cannot visualize a better team than his. i do not believe a 100 daschles will now be able to convince Americans that their idea is a better team.
the time for bullshit is long over. there is much work to do most of it hard, arduous, bloody and dirty. more American blood is going to be spilt.
Americans have to decide now, for united we will stand, divided we will fall. We must fight those who seek to divide us from within, or we will be the next damaged, discarded human pieces scattered about the world unclewest |
