I love debating roundheads. America is great because it broke away from the religion- and monarchy-oriented style of government. The promise was that no central authority, be it religious or monarchy, was going to rule. We the people would rule, without religious prejudice, giving all men equal rights. Even the non-Christians. To say that the founding fathers wanted a religious government is just plain wrong. If they had, they won't have written the Constitution, they would have merely taken the St James. People have been killed in the name of religion for centuries. Christians have done more of their fair share of killing in the name of Jesus Christ. The people who kill in the name of their religion are twisted. Don't give any crap about Islam being a religion that calls them to kill their neighbors. There is just as much old testament smoting rhetoric in the Bible. Both Christianity and Islam preach getting along with members of other religions; it's the fanatics on both sides that have twisted these messages.
