So far Israel is winning the military war but is losing the world public opinion (and political) war, excluding the United States. And if Israel (in particular, the extremist faction including Ariel Sharon) attempts to push the United States into a position, whereby, our national interest are endangered (and even the average "Joe" American can identify this shift) then Israel will stand alone in the Middle East. I hope the Israelis are wise enough to avoid that situation.

I don't know if anyone has the military or political clout to force both the Israelis and Palestinians into a lasting peace without incurring the wrath and rage of the Arabs or the Jews.
