On 2, I think it is the Taoist in me, that says that immortality is possible, but only through reason. And immortality, would I think include the ability to live without food and water. I don't know how big a part of me that is, but I acknowledge it is their, the foolish dreamer.
And on 3, then, I think that you are saying that if I compromise with society, and abide by societies laws, then society will take care of me. Again, the Taoists in me would say, that as long as I can keep society from taking away my little plot of land I can survive. I would be hesitant to compromise my land, in a treaty with society. But, what can you do? It seems like there is no choice.
There is no immortality, because there is no way to live a life independent of the goodwill of others? |
