Your statements imply that you see the Israeli/Pal conflict as purely a civil insurrection. This ignores the whole proxy war aspect of the conflict. Even if most Palestinians got thoroughly sick of the conflict, there is a core that acts on the orders of Iran and Iraq and Syria. This core effectly controls their decision-making now. Until Israel decapitates this leadership and strikes back at the sponsoring countries, its efforts can indeed be classed as mostly defensive.

So we've managed to completely forget about the settlements issue, the destruction of Palestinian homes, the occupation issue. The Palestinians are now just agents of other countries.

I gather that's now the view of the right wing. Not even the official view of the Bush administration is that unforgiving.
