I can imagine doing it all at once would have a certain overwhelming impact. Like the difference between being on a ship as it sinks, slowly, and time is stretched out, compared with watching it on home video all compressed into one steady action. (Well, not a ship. I was on a 20 foot runabout when the captain hit a log and we slowly sank into the water, seemed to take forever, but somebody on shore was videotaping it and it went by much more quickly, and much more scarily, than it happened in real life.)
