I am currently reading NO Place For Truth by David Wells. His argument that theology is dying is very believable. As I contemplate the current state of the church I cannot help but think that the great deception is modernity and the pluralism that has infiltrated much of the church. Tolerance and the sacrifice of theology to present a more acceptable gospel could very well be the great deception. Only those who truly seek the doctrine of the apostles and live a life that represents those beliefs are truly children of God and disciples of Christ. Anything else that masquerades as Christianity but sacrifices the idea of One Truth for today's pluralistic beliefs is a cult. There is only One Body and One Lord and One Way to God. Apart from Christ all roads lead to Hell. Apart from doctrine, all roads lead to chaos. It is only when we renew our minds with the foundational truths of God's Word that we can truly find the Way that leads to life.
