Share Trader Instinet to Buy Rival Island Wow. This is big news. I wonder what the timing of this deal will be. Almost certainly, the combined ECN will use ISLD technology. It will be interesting to see if they eliminate the odd lot trading which is allowed on ISLD. I doubt this will happen though. In the end, I expect this will be a very good thing for individual traders, as more liquidity will be available in one place, and the combined ECN will be a very serious competitor for Nasdaq. I can think of a lot of worse things that INCA/ISLD taking over as the majority liquidity provider on Nasdaq and listed stocks. My two cents... Anyone have particular thoughts about how this merger will affect trading for the better or worse? -Eric
