Is it really? Have you noticed that Saudi Arabia has become very up to date. It was only one or two generations back that the country lacked modern resources and technology. Where do they purchase technology from? Where do they purchase education and services from? When they need parts or replacements do they order them from local industrial sites? There are none. Do you think that is only a result of being spoiled by oil money. No, it is by design. They are basically a non productive nation who pays the West for products and services. They are spoiled, dependant, and in debt over their heads and we have made every effort to enable the situation, because it fuels our economy and secures a political foot hold.

Lets take another example: Egypt. This has basically been a welfare state for decades, although the World Bank has been forcing a turn toward free enterprise for the last ten years of so. We provide billions a year in foriegn aid and loans that they have no hope in paying back. Much of it is in dollars that are ear marked to be spent on American goods and services. It creates a dependency that we lean on when ever we need some political leverage in the area. It has worked very effectively from the 70s through the 90s.

Why would you think invading would be a better deal?
