I knew it all the time. I differ only in that certain religious factions are teaching their children self-immolation--better known as homicide bombing. There is no place for this in America.

I am not arguing for:
1) A merging of church and state.
2) A single religion (e.g. Christianity) as the solution.

I simply don't want Christianity and Christians unfairly treated. I'll tell you a true story to illustrate: During the Clinton years the government agency I work for sanctioned special interest employee groups for 1) Blacks in Government, 2) Federally Employed Women FEW (Phew!), 3) Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Employees GLOBE, and a number of other groups based on physical disability and so forth. All these groups received overnight approval for their charter along with the right to meet on government time, in a government building, and use government computers. The GLOBE one even has a salaried federal employee overseeing its activities. A Christian group called ACROSS (Association of Christians Reaching Out in Service and Support) wanted permission to only meet on the lunch hour and applied for it. After two years and initiation of legal action, the group finally received limited recognition, but was admonished to stay within strict limits.

I thought it was outrageous. ACROSS was the ONLY group that was open to everyone regardless of religion as long as they supported its objectives. Its objectives were almost identical to what you just said, and required no confession of faith and so forth.
