MrB, just talked to my sailmaker (like the ring of this statement) and
he'll have repairs done this week. So I will be ready next week.
I'm not aware of marinas that are public (stock) companies. The number of marinas has expanded in the Bay area to the point they now advertise their vacant berths. But most have, at a glance, good occupancy ratios. There is plenty of competition for providers of services (boat yards, bottom cleaning, sail makers etc.). But not too much competition for West Marine. Their ads are all over local sailing mags, they ship a hefty annual catalog, have a web site (probably not too much impact, because many sailors with big boats are older and
not into internet). Oh, boaters need insurance - plenty of competition there. In bad times most will sell their family before selling their boat. Please get 'Latitude 38' and read it. You'll enjoy the read and get an idea of the industry from the ads.
WMAR is at 17 1/8 now.
