Someone around here argued, in the reasonably recent post, that public opinion polls taken in a "dictatorship" were meaningless. Hmmmm.

I have no idea whom you're talking about because it wasn't me. I have posted many Palestinian polls on this board.

I don't know if this outfit is as good as Shikaki's though.
What I do remember saying is that polls in a dictatorship are "suspect", not the same thing as "meaningless". You always have to ask yourself, could the responder get in trouble for answering one way or the other? In the case of the strategic goals of the intifada, I doubt it, since Arafat himself supports both goals, on alternate days and in alternate languages.
